I really like Magnatune.  They sell plain zipped mp3s, let you choose
your own price, and give 50% of gross to the artists.  They also offer
Ogg Vorbis, if don't need proprietary codecs.  Not as big as Apple, but
you're not going to find much bigger.  However, Apple is going to start
offering DRM-free AACs from EMI next month, and others (including Zune)
will follow.
