Can't Boot after latest Feisty Upgrade

I'm relatively new to Ubuntu and Linux. I like Linux much more than
Windows, but, its inter-workings are still very much of a mystery to me.

I have Edgy on two systems and Feisty on a third. I mostly use Feisty
because everything usually works very well on that system, including
being able to open all attachments that I receive from friends who use
Windows. I fully realize that there are risks inherent in using Feisty
at this stage.

I have installed all updates since Herd 2 was made available. The
update today (6 April) built a new Kernel (2.6.20-14). After updating,
I can't boot. I can drop back to 2.6.20-13 and boot successfully. I
fully expected to get a notification that updates were available, but I
don't get such a notification.

At this point, I don't have a clue how to proceed other than to just
wait for the next batch of updates. However, I'm afraid that the next
update will put me back in the same place with a new kernel that I can't
boot.

Can someone advise me on how to resolve this problem. I will be happy
to provide any information you need, but may need some help in learning
how to get the information.

Thanks,
John
