Problems with gcc/ld on Edgy

While I was trying to compile upstart, the configure-script retunted
with the error "C compiler cannot create executables".

Then I tried to compile the testprogram(just an "int main(){return;}"
with some #define did not either work.

GCC-Output was in both times:
/usr/bin/ld: crt1.o: No such file: No such file or dictionary
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
