build-essential linux-header-ARCH

While installing intel modem 536ep on UBUNTU we first install
build-essential & linux-header-ARCH
Did we also need to install these packages while installing modem on KUBUNTU
If yes how? because i have tried but faile

Can any body tell me how to install modem on KUBUNTU ? i have tried help
from community doc and forums but failed
