Dapper: 100% CPU when idle SOLVED???

I reckon that's still too high but I don't know your system. is it inspiron 9300?

as I said, mine, when idle, runs at 2-3%. even with system monitor running!!

use gkrellm on your destktop. it's a great tool for seeing exactly what your system's doing.

7% is the system monitor itself.  The rest is mostly Xorg.
