after a recent dapper -> edgy upgrade, gnome no longer seems to be aware
of acpi or swsusp capabilities of my kernel. WHen I go to set the
actions to be taken on acpi events like lid close or power-button press,
the only options presented to me are "shutdown", "blank screen" and "do
nothing".
I should also say that on dapper I was using suspend2-patched kernels
and don't remember what preciselyI had to do to integrate my hibernate
commands into the gnome environment; I know I modified some scripts
in /etc/acpi, which I've since changed back.
I've looked at the gnome-power-manager man page and consulted the FAQ;
it looks like g-p-m SHOULD be recognizing the suspend capabilities of my
machine:
$ lshal | grep can_suspend
power_management.can_suspend_to_disk = true (bool)
power_management.can_suspend_to_ram = true (bool)
matt at gont:~$ gconfto
gconftool gconftool-2
matt at gont:~$ gconftool-2 -R /apps/gnome-power-manager | grep can
can_hibernate = true
can_suspend = true
not sure what to do next. anyone have any suggestions?
thanks,
matt
