Is it possible you are pointing to the wrong repository? (Did you
change the lines in /etc/apt/sources.lst ? Did you run one of the
utilities that modifies your repository list?)
The reason I mention it is that the kernel you are installing is NOT
the one the earlier responder mentioned above. I am guessing you are
either trying to install a Debian kernel or a custom kernel. If you
compiled the kernel you probably just missed a step in creating the
.deb, but if you got a Debian kernel from elsewhere, it probably won't
install.
You might sometimes be able to mix Debian and Ubuntu packages in some
cases, but eventually you will run into an incompatibility, so it's
better to install either Ubuntu OR Debian but not both.
