firefox: X Window System Error --> crash

sorry I can't attach a backtrace; bt full reports "no stack"  when
loading MOST web pages with complex content (gmail, nytimes.com ot
name 2)  I get something like the following error:

this is on ubuntu edgy, just dist-upgraded.  Hope this is going to the
ubuntu devs!
