Laptop Install help - PC network card

Im working on a computer for a gal and she wants linux installed. In
install Kubuntu for her. Her laptop is a older Dell Inspiron 4100. The
internal network card died sometime ago and she now uses a Linksys Fast
Ethernet 10/100 PC Card. Kubuntu didnt recognize it.... but does that
mean I cant use it somehow?
