Update: that worked, thanks! I VNC'ed into the machine, did sudo
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and set the monitor for a "Generic" type.
I can now get 1024x768, 800x600, and 640x480. When I hook the Sony
monitor back up I'll just rerun. Thanks again!
