Windows Movie Maker

Hi

I have some handycam clips in wmv format.  Is there any package in Ubuntu
for converting the wmv files to avi ?  Is there a replacement for Windows
Movie Maker in Ubuntu for capturing clips from handycam ?

Installing some utilities for video conversion on Wine is not functioning
correctly.  Are there any packages like Ulead or Xilisoft Video Converter
for video conversions, editing in Ubuntu ?
