Hard X server crash

I have an on board NVidia GeForce 6100 Chipset that uses 64MB - 128MB 
shared memory.  I plan on getting a PCI-E card soon, however this has 
been working fine so far.

I am using the binary nvidia driver in package nvidia-glx.

The strange thing is that the long line does not cause X to crash if I 
use another GTK+ based editor like leafpad.  So far it is only in gedit. 
  I will try to switch the driver to the non-binary nv driver and see if 
I still get a crash.

I wonder if it is an issue with GTK+, gedit and the binary nvidia driver?

I will try a QT based text editor and see how that does as well.
