Hard X server crash

I have a test file at:

http://keeliegirl.dyndns.org/temp/niv.html

If I open this html file in gedit, my whole X session comes crashing
down.  I am using ubuntu dapper.

Can any one else see if this happens to them as well?  Make sure to
save your work and close all apps before you try to open this file in
gedit.

I can open the file just fine in vim, and I see that there is one
really long line.  If I open the file in some other gtk+-based editor
like leafpad, X doesn't crash, however the long line is totally
garbled and not readable so it looks to be some issue with gtk+.
