Hi, Saurabh,

please stop top-posting, i.e. posting the answer on top of the
"old stuff" in the mail. It makes it cumbersome for readers on
this list to follow up with the answers to your question.

In regard to your issue:
If you need the full blown MS Office, I would definitely go the
crossover path. It is well worth the money and you even get
support to run the apps that they promise to be working.

In case you just want to view (but not modify!) MS-Office
Documents, you could try to install the Microsoft Viewers 2003
for word, excel and powerpoint. If they run, they will give you
the "official Microsoft supported view" of an MS-Office document.

According to the AppDB on www.winehq.com,
the viewers work with wine. Unfortunately up to now, I personally
just made the excel viewer work with my install.

Another good idea might be to update your wine installation.
There is information about a ubuntu repository for that on
winehq, as well.
