edgy: firefox/epiphany ssl issues

This is a problem with the upgrade. I had it, and fixed the problem by
purging and reinstalling firefox (epiphany depends on firefox for nearly
everything). To do so, you can use the following commands:

sudo dpkg -P --force-all firefox
sudo apt-get install firefox

Ignore the dependency warnings, since you will be reinstalling firefox
immediately.

It might be that the problem could be fixed by simply reinstalling
firefox without purging, but I purged first anyway. If you have the
time, you might want to see if "sudo apt-get install --reinstall
firefox" solves the problem first, and report your findings here.
