Sorry for deleting the previous mesages while replying. I checked the sources.list there are no instances of Breezy there. I don't understand why is it troubling me so much. I heard Ubuntu is a good system. I insisted rather forced my friend to install it saying it is better than others, he is furious on me now.

Hi, by posting like this (deleting everything in previous messages),
you make it difficult for others to jump in and help.
To recap (correct me if I get a detail wrong), you've dist-upgraded
from Breezy to Dapper. Everything seemed to go OK until you rebooted
and X wouldn't start. You say you've tried dpkg-reconfigure and it
didn't help. I assume that means you did a cursory run through and
accepted all the defaults. (That's fine, that's often all that's
needed.)
I'd suggest making sure that the dist-upgrade completely successfully
by checking once more that all instances of breezy are changed to
dapper in /etc/apt/sources.list and then doing:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
-Eamonn
