VMware file movement - how?

I have been working on a similar problem. I wanted to transfer files
from my bootable windows XP partition to 'vmware server' virtual XP so
I can load data for use in some windows applications.

After somehome work, here is what I did, not sure if all steps were
needed as I dont know jack about linux.

In ubuntu 6.06 I used the application add/remove manager to install
samba.

I loaded vmware server as a sudo user from terminal using $ sudo vmware
command. I changed from bridged network to Nat using the vmware server >
vm > settings > hardware > ethernet.

I disabled the windows firewall.

Then on Ubuntu I went Places > Network Server and I could see the
virtual XP shared folder.

Now I am trying to figure out how to access a removable harddrive from
Virtual XP, cant see it at the moment, probably something to do with
sharing permissions.
