If you,
        use both Windows XP and Ubuntu on a one computer,
        have installed the above operating systems on seperate partitions of a one hard disk,
         have installed PowerQuest Partition Magic 8 on Windows XP,

Then DO NOT run PowerQuest Partition Magic! It CORRUPTS the GRUB boot loader!! Then Error 17 occurs during the boot and halts!!!

This is what I have experienced few months ago.
