Multifunction printers for ubuntu?

I use Epson printers and scanners with almost zero problems. The one
problem that still remains is that after one or two scans, my Epson USB
2450 Photo scanner will timeout and I will have to turn the scanner off and
on for it to be seen again. This is probably a libusb issue.
