Can't read Linux CDs.

I successfully burned and booted to the Ubuntu desktop on an HP
Pavilion a324x (I wanted to switch my Mom but the Belkin USB wireless
adapters F5D7050 and F5D9050 would not work in Ubuntu). Then I used
the HP recovery tool from F10 and still had problems to try a 3rd USB
wireless adapter (Linksys WUSB54GC -- I don't know if it works fo
Ubuntu) on Windows XP Home; now I can't boot Ubuntu from the CD (I did
not install to the HD). All 3 usb wireless drivers seemed to be the
cause of crashing/freezing Windows XP. So I wanted to try Ubuntu for
her.
It says installing required drivers I believe with 3 dots ...
Hopefully my cd is just scratched up (even though it does not appear to be?)
