Found kernels '' in remastered Dapper server cd

Hi all. I hope this is the appropriate place to throw my question, just
in case anyone has seen this before.

I am making a local derivative of the alternate CD. I based my preseed
file on the server.seed file, and so far, I just added more stuff to
the installer questions, and a couple of packages on extra/.

The problem is, after my packages are installed, the installer looks
for a suitable kernel to install, and none is found. On
/var/log/syslog, I can see the error message right after "Found kernels
''". 

There are no other error messages, and the packages seem to be copied
and installed with no problems.

Any pointers to probable causes, RTFMs or ideas would be most welcome.
