weird vmware problem on Dapper

One thing I have noticed on the virtual machines is that when I <ctrl>
<alt> <delete> inside and go to task manager then to the performance tab
- the processor is racing around from little usage to 100%

I am running vmware workstation 5.5 on Ubuntu Linux (Dapper Drake), my
machine is a 2.8 Dual Core cpu, and my problem is that in some of my
VM's (windows xp) a mouse double click does not work - to open stuff I
have to left click and then choose open from the menu
