vmware on Ubuntu

I got the sound working without a problem.
The USB controller shows as being present,
but, since the Webcam Pro 3000 is audio/video, I installed Skype 2.5 to
see if it would work as it did back when I ran a MS environment.  It
doesn't.  No sound recording from the test call...

I looked in vmtools->devices, and no USB is to be found.

Is there some way that I can tell vm that the USB is there, and that
this device is attached ?
