I think it will save you much trouble if you'd windows for this, because
even if you'll get your IDE's working on Linux (maybe it's possible
using wine) that doesn't mean that your program are working too. And as
your teachers will test them using Windows you should test them on
Windows, too , to be sure they're working.
If you want to use Linux you could use VMWare to set up a virtual
machine so you can run windows in a window on your Linux desktop (but
maybe you need an additional Windows license for this).
I don't have much experience with VMWare, but maybe someone else could
help you with this.
