no dhcp on Edgy

I was in the same boat over here with a wired connection. All of my pcs
are setup for static, but I wanted to look into a spare router that I
had lying around. After changing back to dhcp, that is when everything
went screwy. Also of note, I had to manually enter the gateway address
into /etc/network/interfaces (I thought this may have been left over
from the beta install, but it seems like the networking issues are
persisting).
