dpkg-buildpackage failure in edgy

Hi,

I'm trying to create a dist-deb target in my build system to automate
the creation of deb packages. Unfortunately it doesn't work.
"dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot" returns:

   /usr/bin/fakeroot: 152: debian/rules: Permission denied

You can easily replicate this by getting:

http://www.omesc.com/content/downloads/dist/testing/evolution-brutus-1.1.7.tar.gz

and doing:

   ./autogen.sh && make dist-deb

One thing though... This bug:

https://launchpad.net/bugs/66560

will prevent a straightforward build. You have to do a little voodoo
before you can replicate my problem:

I'm new to Ubuntu so this might be something trivial, but I would be
really grateful if someone could point me to my errors.

Thanks a lot in advance,
  jules
