the best way to be able to play Windows Media Files

What's the best way to be able to play Windows Media Files; WMV, WMA, 
...  in Firefox, now.  On my laptop I installed w32codecs, totem-xine 
gstreamer0.8-misc gstreamer0.8-plugins to view WMV's from various 
sites.  w32codecs has disappeared from deb 
ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ etch main.
