The way the name in question was used has nothing to do with "a
perfectly normal English word" nor with "Spanish\Latino" names and I'm
sure you, as well as original poster, know that.

I have politely asked to be considerate of people who hold certain
religious views and I fail to see how this could be offensive to those
who hold different views. This is especially strange considering this is
a technical list where such matters should be avoided and when or if
arise, apologies exchanged (privately or otherwise) and we move on.
Instead, a request for consideration offended some. Bizarre world.
