Seems to be a change in resolution will trigger the problem. Thing is I can change resolutions in Gnome with no problem. When the screen collapses, I have to kill the Xserver with ctrl-alt-backspace and then I can go into IceWM without a problem.

Video (built-in to MB) is MGA, and it's running on a NEC FE771 sb
which can do 1600x1200. I only use Gnome and ICEWM so I can't speak for
other combinations. It's just one of those annoying things. I keep
hoping a new V of Ice will fix it but I'm running 1.2.28 now with Edgy
and the same thing happens. Its like the Xserver has to re-run. I did
notice when I logout of Gnome (my monitor clicks when it changes
resolutions) I get two clicks before GDM appears, like it's changing
resolutions.

Cheers
