login and password

after installing xubuntu in not enough memory mode,i
skipped the user account info and moved to the
password stage and gave my last name as my password,at
the reboot stage i could not enter the login or write
my password,xubuntu kept rejecting every attempt,what
did i do wrong  PS# i am only useing 64 mg of memory
on my labtop.
