I have to ask WHY? OpenOffice Word Processing will do everything that Word can do and can read/write .doc files for free? Maybe I'm missing something. Good luck.

I was gonna say the same thing, but I decided to hold it in until they
make and 'ubuntu-politics' list.

Anyways, try installing mplayer and mozilla-mplayer from the
repositories. Also, try removing totem-mozilla. It sucks. Mplayer has
much better plug-in support.

In addition to that which Matt posted, if you merely want to move files
between the two machines, FTP is sufficient. I presume you want to mount
each others drives though, which will require Samba installed on the Ubuntu
box.

So - enlighten us - what are your requirements?

Hello, guys. Thanks for your help.
I had already done these ajustments before posting. After seeing your
posts, I've tried (again) all the possible combinations of capture
level, microphone level, master... Actually, a low voice level (nearly
impossible to be heard) is the best think I can get. I need more
help.
Thanks, Marcelle.

I was going to ask the same question and then I realized that I have two
kubuntu 6.06 boxes, one of which plays CNN video in konqueror while the other
complains that Windows Media Player is needed. Neither has Mplayer
installed, but both have the win32codec packages installed.

Any ideas how to figure out which is the key package that gets me CNN?
Paul

If you are using 'mplayer' and 'mozilla-mplayer', like you ought to, and
you have the 'w32codecs' package installed, try to go to a video other
than at CNN. When the movie starts to load, right click on it, and
select "Configure"

Make sure that "Windows Media Support" is checked.
