You still haven't said whether you did or didn't install f-spot from
sources (and not from the repositories) in Dapper. If you did, you
need to back out and remove the bits and pieces that may be scattered
all over your hard disk, much of it in /usr/local/, which is probably
first in your PATH. Mixing versions isn't likely to work. However, if
you didn't install f-spot from sources and ran into these problems
simply by upgrading from dapper to edgy, you've spotted a bug and need
to report it before it's too late.
I'm out of ideas, sorry. I hope someone else can jump in at this point.
