There is another option: make the filesystem ext2 or ext3. To have
that filesystem accessible from Windows, you will have to install this
file:
http://www.fs-driver.org/index.html
I have it installed on both of my PC's and have had no trouble accessing
my Linux partitions from within Windows.
The only caveat is you cannot share this filesystem between two Windows
PC's on your network. Samba in Linux, of course, has no problem.
