Given that my advice for oracle XE is only valid for i386, and you don't
actually need a full database, you should be able to install the client
from Oracle's website.  Search for "oracle client".  The 10g client should
work, afaik (though I confess to having only worked with version 7 for a
couple of months when I was first using Oracle).
