My bet would be follow up Sean Hammond suggestion and see if it helps.
I do not use a router. I am direct connected via adsl and therefor my
mtu is set (manually) somewhat different.

If the workaround from the bugreport does not help you try this one out:

/etc/network/interfaces
<-------------------------------------
pre-up /sbin/ifconfig eth0 mtu 1500 up
------------------------------------->
Add this line to each interface you have configured there.
But as allready siad try the other solution first.
