I'm having the same problem, but I didn't try starting metacity... thanks
for the tip.
I've also been getting a startup error message (in gnome) about
gnome-settings-manager not running.
question to you, ruscook: are you running beryl/emerald/compiz whatever out
of the quinnstorm repos? I am and I was wondering if that was our common
problem.
