USB Hard disk drive.

Hi all, i've quite experience in linux servers but i'm doing my first steps
in linux on desktops. I recently migrate to Ubuntu Dapper on my HP laptop.

I've an external hard drive usb unit that only works sometimes, what I mean
is that usually doesn't work at all but if I keep changing the place where I
plug it sometimes it gets just mounted and I can use it without any problem.

I checked that is detected everytime I plugged it though (no matter if it
got mounted or not), using "lsusb" command.

My question is: How can I be sure that every time I plug the thing it gets
mounted or at least, since it is detected by usb bus, how can I force the
mount operation?

Thank you!
