Setting up lame in Gstreamer (--preset extreme)

Additionally, if you are using Ubuntu 6.06 and would like to encode
MP3s using the "--preset standard", the Gstreamer pipline should be
set to audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lame name=enc
preset=1001 ! id3v2mux

What exactly does "preset=1001" mean and how would I do the equivelent
of --preset extreme?
