Edgy-beta: wired networking not working?

I upgraded a Dapper box to the edgy beta a couple of days ago, and the
wired network card is no longer working.

The card is set to connect to my router via DHCP, and I have tried
restarting it etc. I did have network-manager installed, even though
there is no wireless card, because it reconnects automatically and
provides status notifications about the wired connection. But I have
uninstalled it and restarted the machine and reconfigured the card
with System-Administration-Networking and still nothing.

The card appears to connect successfully, both with and without
network-manager, but I receive no Internet traffic. I suppose I should
see if I can ping the router or not, my guess is I will be able to,
but not able to ping www.google.com.

The problem seems to be with edgy, as I'm using a dapper laptop
connected to the same router with the same network config right now,
and I actually upgraded the box in question from dapper to edgy over
the Internet, with the same router and config. As soon as I restarted
into edgy - no Internet.

I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?
