Because I have 100 blank DVD-R disks and I don't want to throw them away
... Ok, I will reactivate my old DVD writer which _could_ write DVD-R
disks.

=> Thilo: Thanks, I should have known that but it seems I'm getting old ...

cat /proc/sys/dev/cdrom/info gives me
<snip>
Can write DVD-R:        0
</snip>

So, everything is clear now.

Thanks for your help
Dieter
