wireless

I have used Ubuntu 5.10,6.06,6.10, xandros,mepis.dsl.puppy and quite a 
few more. I have never been able to connect to the internet by wireless. 
I do not like Microsoft but I still use XP and ME because I have nothing 
else that works. I use Ubuntu Edgy on a dual boot Dell laptop and would 
love to delete XP but not until I find a solution to the problem. Does 
anyone have a solution to this problem that one who is not an expert on 
Linux could use?
