Keyboard Malfunction during Login

hi there,
I ve installed Ubuntu 6.0.6 LTS in my HP machine.
The boot loader and everything works fine.
But upon login screen my keyboard not working..even the keypad bulbs.
I tried another keyboard but the same result.
So its nothing to do with Hardware. Can anyone help me on this.
