Klipper, at least, doesn't (by default) resolve Chanchao's problem. 
However, if you select "synchronize clipboard & selection" in the klipper
config, I think you get the best of both worlds - it certainly eliminates
the clipboard roulette.  If you don't want the X-method of
clipboard-by-selection, then you can use "ignore selection". I expect
glipper is similar.
