On synaptic.... on the confirmation screen says: 
to be removed => ubuntu-desktop
to be installed => xubuntu-desktop

I didn't want to take the risk! ;-)

Another example: I wanted to remove totem but, synaptic says:

to be removed => gnome

Wow! that's too much for me, so I decided to keep totem! ;-)
