yes, sorry, this was from the 6.06 dapper forum (kubuntu).

I have just looked at my 6.10 kubuntu machine, krecord also appears as 
available (I have all repositories except multiverse enabled). Front 
end or not, it is listed under packages, not programs. The information 
says it will bring also 8 other things, libraries it seems. The 
description makes it sound a trivial thing, but it works well for me.
