How to install printer Kubuntu?

I have been trying to get my printer working again, since an update messed up the system.
Apparently CUPS was "improved" to avoid bothering to feed anything to the printer. Is there a way
to go back to what it was BEFORE the upgrade?

Kubuntu really isn't much use if I can't print anything. Help
