NEW - KDE in Ubuntu

along the same lines - is the Linux underneath Ubuntu the same as
under Kubuntu etc? I mean the non-GUI stuff? I've had no problems
installing Ubuntu and then adding KDE as an optional desktop, worked
like a charm, but installing Kubuntu fresh didn't work nearly as well,
seeming to indicate differences in the base systems.
