vga GRUB option (edgy)

Hi, *

I'm using an ATI graphics card with maximum resolution about 1680x1050.
In /boot/grub/menu.lst my vga option is at 792, but it stills too much 
big in
my screen witch is a 16:10, and it does not appears in the middle of the 
screen.
I've tried some other values but this one is the best I can get. Does 
anyone knows
the perfect value for a mini bootscreen image?
