eclipse on edgy

Hi list,
I have just installed eclipse and wanted it run but without success.
If I start eclipse in a console I get this message:

~$ eclipse
searching for compatible vm...
  testing /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj...found

But some seconds later it quiets with the message to look in the log.
