Building kernel modules on Edgy (with the default Ubuntu kernel)

I also did exactly what you said, here is the result

< nils at nx7010: /usr/src/helloMod > make
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.17-10-generic/build M=/usr/src/helloMod modules

Makefile:495: /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.17-10-generic/arch/i386/Makefile:
No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target
`/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.17-10-generic/arch/i386/Makefile'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.17-10-generic'
make: *** [all] Error 2

So I guess I would need the whole source..
